My Approach
Throughout the years I have had issues with weight, looking back I have been battling it over half my life! I lost it in High School the WRONG way and nearly paid a horrible price for it. I lost it again in 2000 on atkins just to gain it all back plus much more when I had my three children. This time has to be different, I can’t go on anymore fad diets, I realize now that I have to change the way I live if I want to live a good and healthy life. Let alone be a good role model for my children. I hate the idea of them being embarrassed of me or even worse the idea of them having the same issues with weight because of my influence. They are my inspiration!!!
I went to my new Primary Care Physician to get referrals and a physical. It just happened that the physician I chose off a list of around 100 is a Physician specializing in weight loss also. She looked at me after I just weighed in at the most I have ever (280Lbs.) and told me “You know I can help you”. I fell apart sitting there on that chair, all the hopelessness and doubt I have ever had in regards to loosing weight spewwed out of me in front of this stranger. At that moment she shared with me a plan that we would both put into action to finally would help me escape this prison I call my body.
I started on 9/8/08 with an initial weight of 280
My Rules
1.) At least 5 small meals a day if not 6
2.) Protein first, I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks daily
3.) I drink at LEAST 100oz of H2O daily but aim for half my body weight which is recommended at 140oz daily
4.) I eat NOTHING past 7p.m. in order for my metabolism to take care of it
5.) I will incorporate changes in my life that allow me to burn more calories (working out, walking, or just taking the stairs instead of the elevator)
6.) I journal everything that goes into my body! Origionally it was in a notebook until I found this site and now I journal it all in my food journal online.
7.) I remain possitive and focused on my goal of being a healthier and thinner!
After 12 days of following all these rules (and I didn’t have the motivation or time to go to the gym) I weighed in at my Doctor’s office and had lost 14Lbs. So now I am hooked, I know that I can do this it is just going to take me keeping focused and possitive! I am really excited about this website in the fact that it allows me to organize my excercise, meals and find support from people in the same situation and I!

Wow!! I’m excited for you..and I’m glad you have found what works for you!!! You can do it!
That sounds really great. It is obviously a plan that works, and your doctor knows she can help you. We will support and motivate you as you continue with her plan.
Well done for losing the first 14lbs. Don’t be discouraged if the weight starts dropping a little slower, after all it didn’t all go on overnight. 1-2 lbs per week is more normal and a healthy rate, even though we all want to lose weight a lot faster than that.
Welcome to BuddySlimmers.
CONGRATS on your 14 pounds
your plan sounds like a good one keep it up and welcome.

Sounds like a great plan!! 14 lbs is wonderful, good for you!
Just weighed in today and I have lost officially 20lbs since starting 9/8/08!
CONGRATS!!! What an inspiration you are!
I love the way you’ve outlined your entire plan and you’ve already had great success. If I just did one of the things you do, I’d probably lose much faster. Keep up the good work!
